Don't forget that you can only ask for documents and such and that your real audience is the DA's office itself because they have the power to do much more. I like to say they have a duty to do more. The public records request is like a means to put a matter and material before them so that they can exercise some prosecutorial discretion. A well-crafted public records request would contain the facts necessary to make out a case of official misconduct. Review the ORICO statutes for future guidance.
