Mini-Fundraiser For Online Journalism Awards Fees

Entries Must Be Submitted By July 20

While we're busily filling out our calendar with things to actually go do some reporting on this week, we have one other "meta" post to make: We need your help with the entry fees for the Online Journalism Awards.

Our plan, as previously indicated is to enter under the General Excellence and Online Commentary categories, under the "less than 100,000 unique visitors per month" divisions.

You can see our Commentary picks in the comments to our previous item on this subject, and our General picks in the comments to our original item on this subject.

Since we intend to enter two categories, we need $50 for each entry fee, for a total of $100. In order to track progress toward's this goal, we're doing this through a Dropcash campaign, which will generate a progress meter over at the top of our right-hand sidebar.

The goal is set a little higher than the needed $100 in order to offset the inevitable PayPal fees, since Dropcash uses PayPal to handle the actual payments.

We have until July 20 to submit our entries, so the quicker we have the entry fees in hand, the quicker we can rest assured tha our entries have been properly submitted in a timely fashion.

Note: Contributions to this campaign will be reported in our contributor disclosure list. As a general rule, we prefer that any figures subject to our coverage here only contribute to us via the Amazon Honor System, which is anonymous (and therefore we can't even know whetehr or not any subejcts of our coverage have contributed money to this site), so this campaign in essence and by necessity will have to exclude such figures.
