(Updated) Judge Says Brandon Mayfield Suit May Proceed

So Says Some Other Outlet

Note: This post has been updated. Any and all updates appear at the end of the original post.

We never have been able to get Brandon Mayfield's attorneys to respond to us about keeping us in the loop on developments in his case (despite all we've written about it), so we're relegated to noticing when other outlets pick up new stuff. Like now, via an email alert which just came in.

A federal judge has just ruled that Portland lawyer Brandon Mayfield's lawsuit against the federal government for wrongful arrest in the Spain train bombings case may proceed, Mayfield's attorneys told kgw.com.

One of the preliminary issues the earlier hearing was meant to address was that of standing. Meaning: Under the law, did Brandon Mayfield actually have the right to bring forth the specific issues we was trying to bring forth.

It would seem that, yes, he does, although we await further dribbles from other media outlets to see what the specifics are, since Mayfield's team never gets back to us when we contact them.

Yes, we're a little whiny and bitter on that count. As much as we defended Mayfield here, you'd think his legal team would want to keep us informed on the progress of the case But, whatever, you have the breaking, and now we can all wait for the story itself.
