An Open Memo To Sage Hospitality
Save 'Meier & Frank' In Name If Not Actuality
Today both an Oregonian editorial and a Metroblogging Portland post lament the end of the Meier & Frank era.
Federated Department Stores, of course, will be changing the store's name to Macy's, dumping the Meier & Frank name which has been downtown for almost 150 years.
So we have a plea, of sorts, for Sage Hospitality, who will be building and operating the hotel which will occupy the building's upper floors: Please consider naming the hotel The Meier & Frank, to at least maintain the historical presence of the name itself.
