'WW' Opens 'Best Of' Readers' Poll For Voting

Name Your Choice For 'Best Local Blog'

It seems that voting is underway in the Willamette Week "Best of Portland" readers' poll. Way out on page nine of the poll, question 79 offers options for Best Local Blog.

This year, their options are: BlueOregon, Jack Bog's Blog, the site you're reading now (which they, confusingly, dont cite by its actual name) The Oregonian's Public Editor, PDX Media Insider, and City Commissioner Sam Adams. As ever, an "Other" option is also provided.

So, be sure to take the poll and vote for your pick for best local blog, whether that pick be this site, any of the other choices, or another one they didn't list by default.

Disclosure, for those who might want to take it into consideration either for or against voting for us: Last year, we won both the readers' poll and the paper's pick in the blog-related categories.

Did Diane Linn disappear from the Multnomah County commissioners while I wasn't looking?

Either it's an informal, subtle diss to the Chair, or they considered her not a 'member' of the Multnomah County Commission because of her elevated status as chair.

Third (and most probable) possibility: WW knew that she wouldn't receive any voted even if she had been on the ballot, saving the survey-maker some much-needed time to consider the contestants for best lap dance (vote Jack B.!).

Doesn't seem likely it's the latter given that they included Mayor Potter on the Portland City Council list.

Since subtlety is waaaaaaay down on the list of characteristics of WW, I vote amusingly Freudian oversight.

Shame on Willamette Week. I was disappointed to see them keep Diane Linn off their ballot, and even more disappointed to see them dishonestly claim that she was on the ballot and that no one voted for her. When Willamette Week doesn't like somebody, they will stop at nothing to sully their reputation.
