The Day Before Jury Duty

Hence The Quiet Around Here

So as we try to get some things done before reporting for jury duty tomorrow (like, laundry, even though we don't seem to have any quarters handy), we leave you all with a question.

Think it will matter to anyone down there that at one point we urged a recall vote on District Attorney Michael Schrunk?

Also, we believe we have at least one reader down there, although we're reasonably sure we don't actually know who they are. Will they care?

Okay, that was two questions.

Hmmm... are you hoping to get out of jury duty by any chance?

Not at all. While getting called could mean a large number of things I couldn't get out to this week, it's more that I'm just curious to try to get a sense of things in advance.

Will the employee who works at the courthouse, who reads your blog and I'm sure many other blogs, care if you once thought Schrunk should be recalled?
    Uh...I doubt it.
Honestly, not any more than any of the rest of us care.
Er, what does this have to do with jury duty?

You're confusing the two questions, although looking back I can see how that's easy to do. My second question wasn't whether my reader or readers at the courthouse and/or the DA's office care about my recall urging, but whether or not anyone will care (from the standpoint of assigning me to a jury) that I have readers at the courthouse and/or the DA's office

there's no way your serving on jury duty... you are too influential and any lawyer will be afraid that your opinion will sway the jury...

The recall matter may indeed get you excused in criminal matter...if it comes to light in court. Civil matter might be another case (no pun intended).

I loved jury duty and I work with the police and was called for 2 criminal trials and a few years later picked for Grand Jury. That was an enlightening experience. I was glad I did it. Have you ever served before? You'll have plenty to write about.

"You'll have plenty to write about."

He wont be able to write about it as a juror until after the fact.
