(Updated) PDC Feeding Frenzy

Too... Much... Information...

Note: This post has been updated. Any and all updates appear at the end of the original post.

This past Sunday, Jack Bogdanski asked about that smell, a reference to the strange interactions of a consultant hired by PDC and a PDC employee seeking a raise.

Yesterday, the PDC announced that said employee was bring placed on leave pending the ongoing investigations into the agency's contracting practices, a development also covered today by The Oregonian, which also weighed in via editorial.

That latest also was commented upon by OregonLive's blog about Old Town, which found itself drawn back into the fray despite saying it was going on a "hiatus" from criticizing the urban renewal agency.

Meanwhile, the search committee seeking to replace outgoing PDC executive director Don Mazziotti has narrowed the list to four (further details here), and the Portland Tribune gives a look at some of those who didn't make the cut.

Bogdanski says "it's not an encouraging list for those of us hoping for change" and Brian Libby laments the lack of attention to design and wonders why Charlie Hales, former City Commissioner, isn't among the finalists.

And in the ongoing saga of the Burnside Bridgehead project, Central Eastside activists want a citizens committee with actual influence to be created as the project moves forward.

Finally, there are two upcoming discussions this week on the fate of the Portland Development Commission -- one before City Council, the other from the City Club of Portland.

We forgot about the defense of PDC over at BlueOregon, written by a "student employee" at the agency.

I was. That write-up was supposed to be this morning's task for me, but I woke up to discover my apartment has no water, and I never saw any notice saying anything about the water being off today, so....

    Heh.

FYI, my water situation is apparently fixed, so I'm working on the write-up from last night now.
