Here's Some Of What We've Missed
Beginning To End The Hiatus
Now that we will be attempting to return from this week-long hiatus, we figured we'd begin with a post full of links to stories we would have been covering in one way or another had we been active over the past several days.
Design & Development
- Potter nominates businessman for PDC board (The Business Journal of Portland, June 20)
- Potter appoints business owner to PDC board (The Oregonian, June 22)
- Hanging In the Balance: The Burnside Bridgehead Collaboration (Portland Architecture, June 24)
Law Enforcement & Legal Issues
- Officer recalls how he killed Kendra James (The Oregonian (June 22)
- Jury sees position of James when shot (The Oregonian (June 23)
- Shooting that divided city goes before jury (Portland Tribune, June 21)
- Officer traces shifting scene at James' car (The Oregonian, June 24)
- James jury hears 2 very different stories (Portland Tribune, June 24)
Metro-Area Politics
- BUREAU BINGO (The Portland Mercury, June 23)
- Mayor sets agency changes in motion (Portland Tribune, June 24)
Meanwhile, in the midst of the financial discussions arising out of our hiatus, we also may need to hold an entirely separate fundraising period, because this year's Online Journalism Awards just opened for submissions, and this year they specifically have a site-size delineation for sites with less than 100,000 unique visitors per month.
But we'll come back to that later on, because submissions are being accepted through July 20, and if we're going to enter again this year, we need to open a separate thread to discuss some thing about it.
All of that said, we will be working our way back into things over the next few days, although tomorrow may be a no-show for us, because we have a rather long meeting to attend about something unrelated to Communique reporting responsibilities.
