Chinwag At The Eastbank Farmers' Market
Thursday Afternoon And Evening In Buckman
Since response to the idea seems strong enough, we will go ahead and announce that we will be holding a very informal face-to-face with any interested readers, this Thursday at the Eastbank Farmers' Market, with the intent to do so every week.
While the market lasts from 3:30 PM until 7:30 PM, we're aiming for 4:00 PM onward this time around. This minor delay mainly is to give us time to do our own shopping and get it all back to Communique headquarters (we don't want our bratwurst to be defrosting in our bag the entire time). Then, we may rework the time for the following week depending on how this week plays itself out.
As has been pointed out to us, there likely are some readers for whom the early part is best, and others for whom the later (post-work) time is best. So we'll try this and see how it goes.
And, yes, we're going with "chinwag" because it sounds stupid and informal, rather than stuffy and organized like "salon" or "forum". What comes up in conversation will be an artifact of who shows up and what they have to say, not some pre-determined agenda.
For those who don't already know, the Eastbank Farmer's Market is located in a parking lot at SE 20th and Salmon.
For those who may never have actually run into us anywhere around town, we will be appropriately dressed in our t-shirt and cute little hat for easy identification.

What?! You didnt like 'symposium' ? : (

Symposium is no more stupid and informal than salon or forum.
FYI, that suggestion also came a good time after I posted this item.

Plato would be crushed.

Plato they say, could stick it away, a half a crate of whiskey every day.

...(and) Aristotle,
Aristotle was a bugger for the bottle, And Hoppes was fond of his dram. And Rene Descartes was a drunken fart. "I drink, therefore I am."
Yes, Socrates himself is particularly missed; A lovely little thinker, but a bugger when he's pissed.

"salon" stuffy and organized? How sad. Somewhere Collette is spinning on a trapeze in her grave...

I should have added, Collette is of course naked as she spins, though she may be decked in a few, fun feathers...
add some women in men's dress, a drunken writer or two, an artist, the toast of the town, several communists and multiple fire breathing feminists... Now, THOSE were salons!
I guess it is true, our generation is sadly diminished... :-)
