'Communique' Relocation Complete
A Brief Update
As of Saturday, April 9, we have moved to the new Portland Communique headquarters in Buckman, and the settling in is underway.
On the technical end, the transition apears to have gone smoothly, with no snags of snafus on the part of our ISP or their vendor. Additional bonus: We now have DSL without needing to have landline telephone service, and so are finally entirely free of Qwest.
As for the personal side, the move already is effecting the sorts of changes which we were seeking. This move was motivated mainly by the clear need to hit something of a reset button, allowing us to refresh a number of things back to square one, or near enough. Various habits have already improved (for example, we're smoking about one-third the amount we were previously, now that we're no longer doing so inside).
We're greatly fond of being twenty-seven blocks closer to the sounds of freight trains, and we've become very attached to having a back fire escape which faces due west, straight into the late-day sun and likely with a perfect view (we realized the other day) of the various instances of fireworks on the west bank of the Willamette River.
While we miss the proximity to what we now refer to as our Richmond branch office, which had been a mere three blocks from our former abode, we now have what, of course, shall be known as our Buckman annex directly across the street. And, yes, they serve Stumptown coffee, so there's at least that one rather significant consistency.
On the "professional" side, it's no coincidence that we began seeking contributors for a new Communique-related project one week after moving. That is itself an artifact and an effect of the reset and refresh brought on by making the dramatic and sudden break in our entrenched routines which moving represents.
Hopefully, we're now in a position to recommit ourselves to trying to find new ways to push what we've been doing into new areas, while trying to strengthen the basics.
Presuming, of course, that we will be able to find, in the near future, a substitute for our originally-intended site sponsor and finally stablize things on the financial end once and for all.

Ignore this. I'm using this post as an opportunity to test something technical regarding reader comments.

It's unnerving to read that your personal victory was in part found through freedom from Qwest. My cartel very recently moved our world headquarters as well, and our personal victory was freedom from Comcast -- earned through some enslaving treaty with...QWEST! Tell me you're not getting DSL from Comcast. I never want to find out that both Qwest and Comcast are subsidiaries of Disney or something. Where are those pesky Goldschmidts these days, anyway? I can't handle another corporate conspiracy. L
