City Council Delays JTTF Oversight Vote Another Week
Postponed Decision Postponed Yet Again
Just in via email is an announcement out of the office of Mayor Tom Potter that Wednesday's scheduled hearing on oversight of Portland officers assigned to the Joint Terrorism Task Force has been delayed one week.
"I am still in talks with our federal partners about the best way for Portland's officers on the JTTF to protect the safety of our citizens while also providing City officials with the information they need to protect the individual rights of our citizens," the release quotes Potter as explaining.
This delay comes after a three-week postponement decided upon at the March hearing on the original oversight resolution introduced by Potter and Commissioner Randy Leonard.
We could have sworn there was a recent print story about the ongoing discussions between Portland and the Federal government on the issue, but we don't seem to be able to find it now.
