The 'Communique'/'Tribune' Mind Meld
Ow, There's Only Room In Our Head For Us
Over in today's "Sources Say" column (scroll down) in the Portland Tribune is an item about the Nick Fish television show which debuts this Sunday morning.
It points out the very early 6:30 AM timeslot, mentions the scarcity of other local public affairs programming on local television (citing Town Hall and Seven Days), and references Randy Leonard's radio show on KXL.
Hrm.

What about the Portland Mercury/Communique mind meld? Seems like the Merc's news page is often just a "top stories from b!X's blog this week". At least this week they credited you...
I guess that's not really so fair. They cover the same topics (city politics) and have to publish only once a week, but sometimes it seems like such a clone...

Dear one true b!X:
The Tribune's final copy deadline for its Tuesday paper is about noon on Monday. That means much of the paper -- especially the non-breaking news parts like "sources say" -- is produced by the end of the day Friday.
That's when, very proudly, we finished our opus about Nick Fish's television show. On Friday afternoon, March 18.
Then, lo and behold, we see the item about Fish's show on the one true b!x's website on Monday. And immediately set out to improve security for our in-house publishing system, since it obviously had been infiltrated.
None of which is to say we don't enjoy reading your blog. And steal ideas from it when we can. Keep up the good work.

This is a truly sublime crack.
