Oregon's Blogosphere On Portland And The JTTF

Views From Both Sides

While we're tracking the progress of media outlets around the country beginning to pick up the Joint Terrorism Task Force story, it makes sense also to check in with some of the Oregon bloggers who have chimed in as well.

Our thanks go out to ORblogs and Technorati for enabling the process of tracking down most of these.

B!XER: WOW! get John Dunshee to write a "guest' piece on your blog and you on his...that would be a WAR!

    Good job on fairness too!

FYI, I've yet to see any truly national outlets pick this up. I was convinced that once the AP story began making the rounds to news outlets around the country, the national outlets would not be very far behind.

Then again, part of what would push the story into that level is fuming from the Right, and they're all still a little distracted by a certain ongoing story down in Florida.

    TRY MSNBC

Only thing they appear to have is a copy of the Reuters story. I still haven't seen any of the networks do anything of their own.

Or, at least, if they have, it's not showing up via Google News.

Don't sound so upset...Now don't get mad at me, perhaps it's as I have said, "the nation", the "folks" as Bill "0" has said has come to expect this from PDX/LITTLE BERIUT, the national weather people say.."in SAN FRANCISCO..its 55 degrees...in SEATTLE, its 57,MISS PDX TOTALLY, the city you defend, has a "bad rap!" And Leonard, and Tom, just made it worse.

Really B!x, other then the SUBARU car salesman, who get rich here, no one wants to move here except those who think like you...Portland Maine was place 911 hijackers flew from to Boston to start the mess...COULD HAVE BEEN PORTLAND OREGON.

Portland Maine was place 911 hijackers flew from to Boston to start the mess...COULD HAVE BEEN PORTLAND OREGON.

You know, they may have been evil men, but I dont think they would've been so inefficient as to fly from Portland, Oregon, to Boston, Massachusetts.

You know, they may have been evil men, but I dont think they would've been so inefficient as to fly from Portland, Oregon, to Boston, Massachusetts.

And that is exactally why you, Tom, and Randy need to butt out of the "fighting terror business...Portland,Maine,is smaller then PDX,but leaving from here or close by wouldn't draw the attention as a major city. The location here is now "perfect" they(the badguys) know that city hall would "drop a brick"(trying to be nice an PC) IF SOMEONE LIKE THE COPS WOULD PROFILE THEM!!!!

The TSA here would have to call Tom and check it out before they would be boarded. It's not PC TO OFFEND.

You, however can fly "ALL ALLAH AIR" with them...just make sure the pilots have a bag when they board.

The TSA here would have to call Tom and check it out before they would be boarded.

This, of course, is nothing but more hyperbole, and a lie.

  9. Jack Peek on 27 Mar 2005

This, of course, is nothing but more hyperbole, and a lie.

The Joint terror resolution is not hyperbole either...IT'S A DIRECT JAB, at taking control of a unit designed to catch terror suspects "before" they act!

It is a show of "force" to pander to the people in this city who don't like "BUSH" and anything that is attached too it. That isn't a lie B!X......it is the truth, and it's also the "S---s.

  10. The One True b!X on 27 Mar 2005

What I find spectacularly fascinating, Jack, is that neither you nor any of the other critics of this resolution seem capable of debating this question without impugning the motives of your opponents.

I, on the other hand, have not once impugned the motives of my opponents, but instead have methodically outlined the facts of the situation, and expressed my informed opinion as to the sufficiency, or lack thereof, of current oversight.

Why do you think you guys don't seem able to argue your view on this issue using fact and considered argument, but instead have to try to question motives, instead? Why are you all incapable of debate? Why are you all so addicted simply to trying to tar and feather your opponents?

If you're view of whether or not current oversight is sufficient is compelling, it will persuade people. So try actually arguing your case rather than just attacking your opponents.

What I find spectacularly fascinating, Jack, is that neither you nor any of the other critics of this resolution seem capable of debating this question without impugning the motives of your opponents.

GEE....the motives are slapping us in the face!

The "LEFT" should have got it in the last election, you, someone who I really admire for your skills, your not stupid, your a person with passion for a cause, but the cause is running a real risk that you aren't thinking much about, and it shows in your thought process.

What is to debate? The fact that we are at war, the fact that their are people reciding here who will kill us if we do not stop them first.

You for one, as a "rep" of the progressive movent here would just ignore what can be debated as facts..things like an AL-Queda training manual page in a book by I think it's written by Wayne Kushner(sent you a link to it) the manual found in a raid in London suggest's that the sleeper cell people rent an apartment on the ground floor of the building to facilate easy escape.

Do you think for one minute that Randy Leonard, or Tom,(THE MAYOR) got wind that PDX cops with the task force were interviewing any middle-eastern profile that fit the "plan" outlined in the trainig document .....they would run,not walk to the nearest camera and say how "offensive" these methods were to "peace loving Muslims" and have those PDX cops stop their work based on the very data OBL wrote for them. There is no debate ,there is no discussion...it has to be done, and anything short of that is not OK with you, and Randy ...period!

As far as name calling...listen and listen good, I took crap for years off PC JERKS in meetings with "PC Jerks" that refused to separate the notion that there is a big difference between "mental illness, AND CRIMINAL INSANITY!"

I got called everything in the world for a commensense position that 5 people, guilty but insane of things not very nice..and allowing them loose(not secure) as the PSRB claims they are, is a STUPID IDEA....but of course your not interested.

I learned these tactics from you and those like you... if it comes back on those like you...OH MY GOD...I'm just a mean person..and more!

You better get a thicker skin, because people like me(maybe not here) but across the USA, are sick of the BS..got too many things to list, but this position on the JTTF is a big one, it isn't a Homer Williams tall building "blocking the sun" deal for the "snobs" on NW 22TH, its a life or death matter for some of us...it's that Goddamn serious...so there is no debate!

    there is no debate!
