On Bridgehead 'B' Teams And Placing Your Bets
An Interlude
We interrupt our non-stop JTTF coverage for a brief item about the soon-to-conclude process of selecting a developer for the much-discussed Burnside Bridgehead project.
In one of todays' "Sources Say" columns over in the Portland Tribune, they point one thing about Gerding/Edlen that we failed to mention in our previous Bridgehead item.
While we did report that Gerding/Edlen once against apeared to be going through the motions at last week's public presentations of the revised proposals, we neglected to observe something of a discrepency between them and the other two developers.
When the public gathered Wednesday to question the three companies vying to redevelop the area, developers Beam Development and Opus Northwest had freshly prepared handouts for interested people. Gerding/Edlen had none. And the Gerding/Edlen team that spoke at the meeting included no company principals, compared to the other developers, who were represented by corporate officers and general partners.
And so the Tribune column finds itself wondering if Gerding/Edlen has "thrown in the towel". That's a supposition that's been floating at least since the days following the big public workshop (scroll down to the end) back in January -- a public workshop to which Gerding/Edlen failed to show at all.
Meanwhile, and finally, Brian Libby over at Portland Architecture says he'd "like to know if anyone out there has a hunch about who is going to win." So head over there and place your bets.
