A Friendly Warning About Debating The JTTF On This Site
Friendly, But Unavoidably Clear
This needs to be said somewhere out in the open, where it will not be missed: Do not, under any circumstances, come onto this site and start accusing people of forgetting the events of September 11, 2001.
This has to stop. You people need to stop claiming some sort of exclusive ownership of that day in order to use it as a political bludgeon against those with whom you have a public policy disagreement.
You don't own that day. It isn't yours alone. It belongs to all of us.
Every single one of you who engages in the debate over the Joint Terrorism Task Force by accusing your opponents of forgetting 9/11 by all rights should be deeply ashamed of yourselves for it.
You won't be prevented from doing it on this site, but if you do we will do everything in our power to make sure you are never allowed to forget what an ugly and obscene person you are for doing so.

See? I already said you're beautiful when you're mad.

He is, isn't he:)-
I have to say that in the face of the resident Trolls here Bix has been more polite and civil than those "ugly americans" deserve.
Here is to putting a light to the darkness of the jihad of todays "just" society.

I greatly appreciate your putting the side boards’ of civility up for this debate.
I too will never forget the horror of September 11, 2001. It is deeply troubling to me to read and hear some of the things people express in their anger as a result of my position on the JTTF. They can't be more wrong in how I feel about our country, those who died on 9/11/01 or those who serve our country in the armed forces.
I have cooled from posting on sites that lack the requirement of civility that your admonition reminds a commenter is expected of them on this site. It is one of the reasons that I regularly read and feel comfortable commenting on Portland Communique.

I've got to be honest, I just don't care whether Portland joins the JTTF or under what conditions they join. I'm kind of excited that Potter is standing up to the FBI, and every flag waiving American who sees terrorists in the shadows... but... if Potter caved tomorrow and joined the JTTF unconditionally, it wouldn't bother me.

Well said Bix, Randy and others. It appears like as in other situations in life. When we look at things through emotional lenses, are perceptions and actions can be skewed. Fear is a powerful emotion and our community might be better served to not heed to fear and question the JTTF and act rationally.
Jack Peek on 29 Mar 2005
WOW...All the "flag waving" all the support for the troops, all the love of country.
Terrorist in the "shadow's, you mean in the closet at Vera's office?
Randy, When you don't get your way, as someone who knows you as well as I do said ,"you stomp your feet like a little kid!"
There is not terror threat! said Fat Mikey Moore, wonder who else said that?
The debate(WHAT DEBATE) will turn ugly if this town leaves the JTTF. This is so clear what is happening:
Mr. Peek,
b!x, Randy Leonard and Potter are fringies in every way. Obstructionist fanatics (with deep hatred for Bush and Republicans)pretending they are preserving our rights.
They are the same people working feverishly to take away all sorts of fundamental rights including voting on initiatives or the big ticket spending schemes wasting billions.
They can't stand anything the majority wants. Anything. Not taxing levels, not property rights, not marriage, not security.
They will continue to undermine and embarrass our state for years to come.
I didn't say this...but I wish I had.
To you all, PLEASE! IF LEONARD IS WRONG, WILL IT BE BUSH'S FAULT..SURE IT WILL!
To Mr. Leonard: Randy, your disgust and anger towards me and my lack of respect for you is only going to go on until neighbors find out that their "new neighbors" are not the nice mentally ill people they were promised. You win "tough guy" ,you had a chance to let these people into neighborhoods and totally provide the "oversight" your so hot on for the JTTF.
You and I both know the problem is still there even if you want to ignore me, I'm not responsible...you are!
AND THANKS TOO YOU ALL FOR YOUR TIME AND SPACE BY WRITING THIS "FRIENDLY WARNING!"

Wow. As if to illustrate B!X's point.....

Does Mr. Peek have a blog?
The One True b!X on 30 Mar 2005
He does not. It's been suggested and/or offered on several occasions. He normally spins the suggestion/offer as an attempt to restruct his speech on other people's sites.
