No One Was Injured And The Shoes Did Not Hit Mr. Perle

A Little Light Reading

This is too odd not to post, even though it's the sort of random thing we don't usually get into. The following is just in from the Portland Police Bureau, from the scene of this evening's debate between Howard Dean and Richard Perle.

At about 8:20 pm, Portland Police were called to the concert hall regarding a disturbance. Officers arrived and took custody of 52-year-old Bruce C. Charles of Portland. Officers contacted witnesses and learned that Charles was in the audience of tonight's debate between Howard Dean and Richard Pearl [sic] when he became upset, stood up, and threw his shoes at Mr. Pearl [sic]. Charles was apparently detained by either security or other citizens and held for police. No one was injured and the shoes did not hit Mr.Pearl [sic].

So there's your Thursday night report from the "keeping Portland weird" department. We now return control over your evening to you.

I was there. It was a strange moment. Here's my take on the evening.

The "motherfucking liar guy" comment yelled at Perle, Can you imagine in this town if Dean had been hit, there would have been a riot, the shoe tosser would have been hung up like the burnt corpse in Irag.

Could I call Dean a fucking traitor or ask the good doctor if he ever did an abortion, or ask him why he doesn't like republicans??? Not here, not a chance. JUST ANOTHER ONE-SIDED VIEW OF "LITTLE BERUIT" KNOWN THE WORLD OVER AS PORTLAND, OREGON

I posted my comments on Daily Kos, that didn't tip you off to the fact that I probably had a pro-Dean, anti-Perle viewpoint? Of course my comments were one sided -- I'm not the media, I only have one side. Sheesh.

    J.P.,

The city in your scenario probably would have gone about as wild as the whole country would if we found out that the government was paying media agents and using sham reporters to push their agenda.

AHH LUKE.... The city I know here played that game too.

Have seen more then one meeting "stacked" to the ceiling with city employee's pretending they are "just citizens" giving input on an issue.

    Been there, done seen that!

Sheesh. Everyone is obsessed with the shoe guy.

My blog partner and I attended...and while the shoe guy was an irritating distraction, the debate was fascinating.

    Here's my take on it.
