Important Change To Email Notifications
From Bloglet To Google Alerts
For most of the existence of Portland Communique, we have made use of Bloglet to handle sending daily email notifications of new items posted to this site. Increasingly that service has become problematic and erratic, in specific ways we won't go into here.
Beginning immediately, we will be migrating our email notifications from Bloglet to Google Alerts, a move made possible by the fact that Google News added Portland Communique as a news source several months ago.
If you wish to continue receiving email notifications about new posts to this site, you will have to subscribe to the Google Alerts service. In addition, you may either login to Bloglet and unsubscribe from our notifications there, or wait until the beginning of December when we will be deleting our subscriber list there.
Under this new system (as you'll see if you click through to the new subscription page), you will also be able to choose amongst three different frequencies for our notifications, allowing you to receive these emails immediately (technically, it's as soon as Google News indexes a new item, not immediately upon its posting), daily, or weekly. Previously, through Bloglet, there were no alternatives to a daily notification.
Any questions about this change can either be posted as comments to this item, or emailed to us privately.
