(Updated) A Holding Pattern

Checking In

Note: This post has been updated. Any and all updates appear at the end of the original post.

Yes, it's been exceedingly slow around here. This isn't only because we're entering the time period in which we will determine whether or not we continue here, or because there hasn't been much in town which has grabbed our attention.

In recent weeks we've been distracted by baseball by the aftermath of the election, and by resurrecting our personal domain. Still to come: Hanging out with a three-year-old we haven't seen in over a year, and then a weeklong trip to the East Coast at mid-Month.

So that's the story at the moment, and the reason there's been little activity here. Some people have asked, so there's the explanation.

Update

This coming Tuesday, we leave for an 8-day trip back east. This site will remain silent during that time, barring something major that we can't ignore even from 3,000 miles away.

With all of the above other things that have been happening lately, we've been taking the time also to decompress from nearly two years straight of writing this site, engaging in a serious bout of downtime the likes of which we have never taken advantage of in all that time.

When we come back to town, we will have a much firmer sense of the future of this site, due in no small part to a fundraising opportunity we've referred to before, and which will become much more obvious when a certain local weekly comes out this coming Wednesday. We will post a bit more about that just before we leave, just before that publication comes out, and try to explain how it will factor into any final decision.

    The Paper

Above links to an interesting paper on election 2004 for you and other bored Portlanders.

I participated in a focus group for a prominent Portland journal and lobbied for them to retain your services. Good luck.
