(Updated) While We Fight A Cold, Go Read This Other Stuff

Your Weekend Campaign Update Linkfest

Note: This post has been updated. Any and all updates appear at the end of the original post.

First, a reminder to everyone that tomorrow morning at 6:30 AM, KGW premiers its new public affairs program called Viewpoint. If we correctly recall the promos we've been seeing, they're starting things off with Mayoral candidate Jim Francesconi.

When you all wake up in the morning, we will either have designated this post as a place for readers to discuss the program, or we will have posted a separate open thread expressly for that purpose.

Now to get through some of the week's campaign coverage, beginning with The Oregonian and its report from a Mayoral debate held by the Rotary Club of Portland.

Also on Wednesday, Willamette Week offered a cover story on Francesconi's opponent Tom Potter.

And wrapping up this very brief, very links-only update item, we have two pieces from today: This week's edition of "City Matters" in The Oregonian, and a shortish item from the Portland Tribune on a Mayoral debate from Thursday.

Technically, we have two forums/debates sitting around in notes form, but we're not yet sure whether or not they will find their way into post form here. We're still trying to find the proper balance of material in the home stretch towards both the election and our drop-dead date at the end of November.

Unfortunately, both backlogged events focused on the City Council campaign between Sam Adams and Nick Fish, which gets next to no coverage, so over the weekend we may at least try to squeeze in a write-up last week's East Portland Chamber of Commerce/Southeast Uplift debate.

Update

We forgot this KATU item on another recent Mayoral debate, as well as this Oregonian profile of Potter from today's paper.

Update

Oh, and we also forgot to give advance warning that Monday, October 18 at the Roseland Theater brings us all the general election edition of the Candidates Gone Wild! event, courtesy of Willamette Week, City Club of Portland, and the Bus Project.

Doors at 7:00 PM, with things getting underway at 8:00 PM, including music from The Minders (never have they let us down, for what it's worth). Those that remember our mention of the previous Wild! event know that we left our notebook and pen at home and just sat back, drank, and chilled along with everyone else. That's our plan for this upcoming Wild! as well. Consider that either an invitation or a warning.

Update

By the way, Potter's website has received a facelift. Francesconi's got one several weeks back.

Update

Late update here. If you go to the Friday Forums page at the City Club website, you can find "choice cuts" from today's Adams/Fish debate, as well as an mp3 (mp3) of the debate itself.

Update

Today's Oregonian offers some coverage of yesterday's Adams/Fish debate, which likely is one of the forums we're not going to get around to writing up.

Plus, the 18th is one week before my birthday, so of course everyone should come and buy me a drink.

By the way: There's a whole new round of poll weirdness on the way -- from a couple of directions. Not sure yet if there will be something to talk about before next week.
