Public Hearing Next Week On Anti-Marriage Explanatory Statement
Following this Friday's meeting to draft the explanatory statement for the anti-marriage/"special rights" ballot initiative, there will be a public hearing on that statement and the financial impact statement on Tuesday, July 27. Here's what the announcement email has to say about public testimony:
Parties interested in submitting written or oral testimony for any of the statements may attend the public hearing, as scheduled below. Testimony may be submitted at any time prior to the hearing date. However, testimony must be filed no later than the adjournment of each hearing. If testimony is received, each committee must meet to consider suggestions and any other information submitted at the hearing.
This particular public hearing will be held in Hearing Room B at the State Capitol in Salem, from 1:30 PM until 3:30 PM. As of this posting, the Secretary of State's office has not yet announced whether or not Initiative 150 has qualified for the November ballot, as it is expected to do given the sheer number of signatures turned in by the Defense of Marriage Coalition.
