First-Ever Open Thread
You Say Something, We're Too Tired
We have a slight backlog. Somewhere, we have to produce items on a study on Portland and the creative class, this week's FCC-related town hall meeting, and today's appearance of Brandon Mayfield before the City Club of Portland. But early this afternoon, the day slipped into a motivation-free zone. So we hereby declare this to be our first-ever open thread, just in case there's anything on anyone's mind. Hopefully, we'll get at least one of the above items written up either late tonight or sometime tomorrow.

Nice art festival in Lake O. that I stopped at on the way back from school. Had bbq chicken on a stick and watched childrens theatre on the lawn. Kinda neat. Hard to find parking tho, FYI.

There's an interesting memo circulating the Web from Oregon's Citizens for a Sound Economy.
The Oregon Family Council is up to the same thing. Read the AP article here.

Yeah, and meanwhile the Multnomah County Democrats are urging Democrats to attend the Nader event early enough to get into the room. According to their email: "The rules state that once 1000 fill into the room, as certified by state election department officials, the doors close and those in the room sign the petition. If we attend in large numbers and politely refuse to sign, Nader is denied his needed numbers. Its that simple."

Very interesting, do you have a link to that?

I haven't found one. It was in a Multnomah County Democrats email.

Are registered Republicans allowed in? I would probably be the only 'publican who wouldn't sign, but I am game for that effort.
OTOH, I could just switch affiliations. I suppose I am lazy.
Ross Perot, where are you now???????

Did you see the very funny S.Renee Mitchell column in this week's Mercury? They stole her photo and everything! I can't find a link, so track down a paper copy.
