Your End-Of-Week Election Campaign Round-Up
As you can tell, our ballot arrived in the mail this morning. If yours didn't, it's on its way and should be there by Monday.
As of today, the election is very, very real. And, today being Friday, it's time to throw out some of the election stories that have appeared in the past day or two.
First, today saw both a Portland Tribune article and an Oregonian article on the previously-mentioned endorsement of Tom Potter by Commissioner Erik Sten.
Actually, the latter is just part of this week's "City Matters" column, which also reports that if elected, Potter will remove the Office of Neighborhood Involvement from the portfolio of Commissioner Randy Leonard (presuming he is re-elected to CityCouncil).
Elsewhere in The Oregonian, they profile last night's debate that aired on KGW.
For what it's worth, a second Jim Francesconi ad has begun to air. We just saw it on KPTV. This one addresses his tenure on City Council, and provides a tagline about doing more with less money.
Taking a rare (for us, not for them) sidetrip into County politics, the Portland Tribune explains a quirk in recall law which could result in County commissioners being recalled for the remainder of the current term only to return to office next year if they win in their own electoral races this May 18.
Finally, the News4Neighbors site has published Leonard's response to their question about reservoirs, software, and leashes.
Disclosure: PORTLAND COMMUNIQUE accepts political advertisements, and currently runs ads from the Busse, Francesconi, and Potter campaigns.
