Endorsement: Naito, Roberts, Rojo de Steffey For County Commissioner

Return The Incumbents (And Reject The Recalls)

In all of our coverage of City politics, we generally neglect Multnomah County, if only for reasons of management of our time and attention.

And, in fact, we're going to cheat on these endorsements, in essence simply endorsing Jeff Alworth's endorsements in these races, as well as his reasoning for them.

One nice thing about writing in a form that encourages cross-linking and cross-polination is that if someone else says what you'd have to say about something, you can just point readers to that material.

For our purposes here, we'll just throw in one extra observation of our own, prompted by this bit from Jeff's endorsement post:

The Oregonian has chosen to punish Maria Rojo de Steffey and Lisa Naito for their gay marriage maneuverings by endorsing the greatest of their lesser rivals. It is in my view a deeply irresponsible position: this isn't just a popularity contest--these people actually govern.

As part of this vendetta against Naito and Rojo de Steffey in the election itself, The Oregonian has also backed the recall campaigns (scroll down to "Recall Petition Filings") against them, as well as those against Diane Linn and Serena Cruz.

In addition to echoing Jeff's endorsements in the May 18 primary election, we also encourage voters to beat back the recall campaigns against all four of the above County Commissioners
