A Note To A Random Reader Who Might Not Return To See This

Noticed in our referers just now is the fact that some reader came here this evening via this Google search for information regarding the S.S. Schenectacy, a tanker which operated during World War II.

Due to our continuing DSL outage, the post for which they had come here, alas, was not here to be seen, since our archives from December 21, 2002, through February 2, 2004, are offline -- and the post in question is from December 23, 2003.

This depresses us.

What the reader in question would have discovered is a post presenting the text of the introduction to our republication of a zine produced by and for Kaiser Company shipyard workers at Swan Island during World War II, much of which dealt with the building of the S.S. Schenectacy.

Should this mystery reader in fact happen to return here, we hope that they visit this cached copy of the post in question, which contains the content of the post that cannot currently be accessed here.

We're very proud of having discovered and republished the zine referenced in the currently-missing post, and in fact of the introduction we wrote for that republication as well. And so we regret that this reader came here from the above Google search only to find that the material in question was not available at this time, and hope they find their way back so that they can find what they had come here seeking.
