    Brrrrr!!

    I was back in town at my folks' place around the holidays, and I got snowed in -- until I wasn't going to sit home for my last few days. Then I got snowed in at friends' houses instead.

    But the last thing I saw in Portland was flat, unmitigated whiteness as I took off from PDX on Jan 1...
