Robert Ball Is Out, And Other Week-Ending Campaign Items

Henry Stern's "City Matters" column for The Oregonian continues to be missing in action as far as being posted online at OregonLive is concerned, which is just about as far away as you can get from my suggestion that they add the column to the columnist's page there.

Today, Stern establishes that it doesn't appear as if the City's handling of the storm will be an issue in the campaigns (like I said it wouldn't), and mentions that the one person I had actually met inside the Tom Potter camp doesn't seem to be working with them anymore. But for those items you'll have to click through. But for those items you'll have to pick up a copy of the newspaper.

What I will reproduce here is this piece of news about the slate of Mayoral candidates:

And cross developer Bob Ball off the list of potential mayoral candidates. Ball, a restorer of historic buildings, said Thursday he is no longer flirting seriously with the idea because his focus needs to be on keeping project commitments with business partners.

Meanwhile, word is that the Bus Project (yes, them again) is looking to mount some campaign debates in the coming months, targeting March for a City Council candidates debate -- last night I heard it referred to as "Nick and Sam" -- and April for a possible Mayoral candidates debate, although it sounds like they need to get moving to make those arrangements.
