The Perpetual Munging Of My DSL Restoration

You might have noticed an addition to my older item about this matter down below. It was a reference to this update which appeared earlier today:

Qwest advised us that conditioning is needed to remove load coils/bridge taps before this data line can be delivered. We submitted a supplement order to Qwest today authorizing them to move or condition the line. We expect to receive a response back from Qwest on the supplement order within 2 business days. Log notes will be updated again by 4:00 p.m. PST on 12/18/03.

Which made no sense to me, since less than two weeks ago, I had in fact had perfectly-functioning DSL at this very address, on this very telephone number.

At any rate, the issue was apparently resolved, near as I could tell by a later update today. But then, lo and behold, a further update informs me that my loop install date is no longer 12/18 (this Thursday) but instead 12/23 -- next Tuesday.

Yes, a one-day glitch, resolved, apparently, in mere hours, has pushed back the loop install by three business (or five actual) days, putting it close to the end of the month, while various projects related to this site remain hanging because they are simply not going to get accomplished over dialup, or while the site's real server is offline.

So, thank you very much, Speakeasy, for your deteriorating levels of service. If you had processed the order last Thursday when you were supposed to, this would not be happening.
