The Lost Months Of 'Portland Communique'
A year before I finally obtained the communique.portland.or.us domain through which this site is served, an earlier version of PORTLAND COMMUNIQUE existed from May until October of 2001.
The first post, from May 16, 2001, reads:
Before leaving Portland after a three-day visit, the Dalai Lama criticized the blessed way of American life, but claimed a hopefulness that we will figure things out.
And the last post, from October 18, 2001, reads:
According to the Mercury, Dignity Village is once again about to run out of time. If yet another new site has not been found by November 1, they will be kicked out of their current temporary site out near the Columbia Correctional Institute.
Not currently having access to my old server machine, where all of this still sits, I actually found this via the Internet Archive, and then briefly republished it via Blogger to make my own archive (pdf) to mention here.
While not technically part of the official history of The One True b!X's PORTLAND COMMUNIQUE, I thought it would be interesting to mention it here, as we near this site's one-year anniversary, fast approaching on December 21, and about which I'll have more soon.
