(Updated) The Black Hole Of Mayoral Campaign Email Addresses

Note: This post has been updated. Any and all updates appear at the end of the original post.

This is just a random complaint, and small in the grander scheme of things. But is it really too much to ask that if mayoral candidates go through the bother of launching websites and campaign email addresses that they actually respond to the means they put into place for people to contact them?

So far, of the four mayoral candidates I know of with websites, only Phil Busse has ever responded to any inquiries. But similar inquiries to Jim Francesconi, James Posey, and Tom Potter have simply vanished into some sort of communications black hole.

Granted, it's likely that the campaigns are much more on top of, say, telephone calls. But then what's the point of websites and email addresses if they aren't actually going to make use of them? Certainly, it can't be to demonstrate how connected they are to the technologies of today, since their lack of response would tend to undercut that message.

Update

To the person from Potter's campaign who emailed me explaining an email outage: My email back to you bounced back as "mailbox unavailable [INACTIVE]." For what it's worth, Comcast email addresses bounce back to me with that same, or a similar, error all the time, so you might want to consider some other provider.

Update

For what it's worth, I am in fact now in contact with the Potter campaign. I have no reason to believe this was anything other than an email outage or some sort. I continue, however, to await word from the Francesconi and Posey camps.

I test a lot of email programs and anti-spam programs and if a person gets a lot of spam, then sometimes the automatic settings are set so almost all the email goes into a junk folder and is automatically deleted.

Sometimes it's too much of a pain to set the settings to not automatically delete the email, but then you have to go through all the spam just to get to legitimate email.

They should set up some sort of forum or comment section on their website and then check those.

Then again, they just may not bother answering their email. From my personal experience in the IT biz, answering email is a full time job and at least one person should be designated for that job.
