(Updated) Is 'The Oregonian' Working On A Big Breaking Political Story?
Note: This post has been updated. Any and all updates appear at the end of the original post.
With no specifics, it's hard to know whether to categorize this was a city or state matter, so I'll put it in both.
A regular reader here writes to say that a "friend in the magazine business" asserts there's a rumor going around that The Oregonian is at work on a "big breaking political story" for this Sunday's edition. This magazine person speculates that it might be a Neil Goldschmidt bid for mayor, although since nothing was passed along to me to suggest why this would be his or her speculation, I suppose we should all take that with a grain of salt. Although my reader says this person is "well connected," there's no way to know if that means they're a good source just on that there's a story in the works, or on that story's subject as well.
In the end, it would seem there's not much more to say at this point other than, "Stay tuned."
Update
In the comments to this item, Commissioner Leonard says, "It is no secret around city hall that the Oregonian is working on quite an extensive profile of Jim Francesconi that is due out in the next week." He speculates that this, in fact, could be the source of the abovementioned rumor.

Not that I have any clue whether or not the Oregonian has scooped a story on a big name for Mayor in this Sunday's edition....however...it is no secret around city hall that the Oregonian is working on quite an extensive profile of Jim Francesconi that is due out in the next week....I could be wrong....but I would guess that story is the source of the rumor....Randy Leoanrd
