Katz To Name New Chief Of Portland Police Bureau Tomorrow

So, it would seem from watching the local television news that tomorrow's mayoral news conference is not only to respond to questions about the Kroeker resignation, but to name the new Chief -- which everyone seems to expect will, in fact, be Acting Chief Derrick Foxworth.

Apparently, a media advisory went out rather recently with the information that Katz would be naming the new Chief at this event, but since I've still not managed to get added to the media distribution list at the Mayor's office, I didn't get it.

Interestingly, the KATU coverage this evening included a little bit about the only remaining recall campaign against Mayor Katz, as it approaches its September 4th deadline for submitting nearly 40,000 signatures in order to qualify for the ballot.

Well, technically, they need 29,788 but in general the idea is to pad the take with another 10,000 in order to not drop below the requirement should signatures be disqualified. At the moment, I'm unsure how close or how far the campaign is from reaching that goal.
