State Budget Cuts For OPB Cause Cancellation Of 'Seven Days' Program

Well, this is rather unfortunate. Unbeknownst to me until reading this article, the OPB program Seven Days is no more:

The decision by state legislators to cut off support for Oregon Public Broadcasting in the face of widespread state budget cuts led to the show's demise, said OPB chief Maynard Orme.
"I hate it. I hate doing this," Orme said. "But we had to make tough choices, and this is one of them."

Other OPB-produced programs, says the article, will continue because they are being underwritten by corporate sponsors. No one, it seems, feels the desire to help fund public policy discussion. On the upside, OPB is reportedly planning a new radio show on public affairs.

Actually, the other upside is no longer having to discover I am watching David Reinhard make even the plastic skin of my television crawl.
