Communique In Print (Well, Sort Of)

Time once again for some news from the Department of Self-Promotion. At some point in the near future, barring any snags, I will be appearing as part of the Portland Tribune "color commentary panel," a feature of that paper's Insight section.

Twice monthly, the panelists are asked to respond to a question about some local issue. See this recent example for an idea of what the panel does.

Of course, my responses (like those of the other panelists) will be limited to a couple of sentences, appear under my birth name, and come accompanied by a mugshot. Rest assured, however, that it will nonetheless be your humble editor.

And if you feel motivated, perhaps a few strategic emails to the Tribune might convince them to bump up the panelist responses from a mere sentence or two to a couple of paragraphs apiece.

For the sake of disclosure, I should explain that the Tribune didn't somehow seek me out. Rather, I responded to their call for new panel members, using my work on this site to help establish my credibility.
