(Updated) Portland Business Alliance To Host Discussion On Memorial Coliseum

Note: This post has been updated. Any and all updates appear at the end of the original post.

I first noticed this upcoming event by thinking to browse the business calendar on today's Sunday Oregonian, but then found the actual event listing on the Portland Business Alliance website:

With competing proposals for the Memorial Coliseum on the table, what is the highest and best use for this property and how do we best remember those the Coliseum was intended to honor.
One proposal brings a new sporting venue aimed at individual achievement and a large city-backed subsidy, one utilizes the property as a new retail center, and one would like to repair and update the present building.

The event is titled (although I've spartanized their punctuation somewhat), "Sports or Sales: Bringing the Outdoors Inside or... the Sport of Shopping," and will be held from 7:30 AM to 8:45 AM on July 16, at the Governor Hotel in downtown Portland.

Speakers will include Mark Gerding, Principal, Gerding/Edlen Development Company; Doug Obletz, Principal, Shiels Obletz Johnsen, Inc.; Harley Wedel, Chairman, Veterans Action Committee.

Note: This forum is not free. PBA members get in for $25 while non-members must pony up $35 to attend. I'm waiting to see whether or not there is media access, and whether or not the PBA will consider this site to be legitimate media -- not inconceivable, but I imagine the PBA could be an interesting test of the definition.

Here now. No problems. And someone's office wifi network is open for outbound Web access.

I received an email from the PBA's events manager asking me to call. Since I was out working at the bookstore all day, I didn't get it until this evening.

Will call them tomorrow, and post an update directly to this post (rather than in a comment) when I have any further information on their decision.
