Blumenauer To Discuss 'A Vision For Portland'

I've just learned that Congressman Earl Blumenauer will be having a discussion about Portland:

The future of a city is generally dependent on the vision of its citizens. Portland has been proud to claim a high level of livability -- largely because its citizens of years ago had the foresight to envision clean air, open spaces, a viable transit system, and densities that promote a vibrant downtown core.
As today's citizens, what vision will you bring to Portland's future? Will you preserve and restore Portland's natural and built environment to encourage continued growth of sustainable business?
Please join us in hosting U.S. Congressman Earl Blumenauer for a conversation about how to make our shared visions for Portland the blueprint for Portland's future.

Undoubtedly a crucial event in what I consider to be his inevitable mayoral campaign. What pains me to no end, however, is that it's being held the evening of Monday, June 30, which is the same evening of a community forum on civil liberties -- which I have to attend, since (as part of the Portland Bill of Rights Defense Committee) I am partially responsible for organizing.

This is truly aggravating. Truly, deeply aggravating. And, to my mind, a substantial loss for my political coverage here.

Not incidentally, this is a good illustration of why, after this community forum on civil liberties, I am leaving the ranks of the Portland Bill of Rights Defense Committee.

Just as an interesting aside... the recallvera.com website is being deliberately targeted by virus laden e-mails today. Thirty were received between 6 and 9 AM and the onslaught continues.

My apologies... I posted the previous to the wrong thread. I will repost it to the correct thread.
