Vote Or Die!
That is my usual refrain come election day. Someday, some nimrod in the government who is unclear on the concepts of hyperbole or metaphor is going to mistake it for some sort of terrorist threat.
Anyway, here is today's story from The Oregonian:
It's nail-biting time for Multnomah County's proposed personal income tax, Beaverton's local option property tax and Oregon's nine other school funding measures -- contests that could send a statewide signal about how voters balance taxes and schools in a down economy.
State legislators are lying low on the measures, although tax supporters pitch the local increases as a direct response to cuts in state school funding. House Speaker Karen Minnis, R-Wood Village, declined to comment Monday on how the school votes will play in Salem.
This appears to be the only story in today's paper, at least based upon what's been posted online. But I expect that over the course of the day, breaking items will be appearing all over the place.
Beating a dead horse: Drop off your ballots before 8:00 PM today. And don't forget the Yes on 26-48 party at the Kennedy School this evening.
