May 16: 'Doonesbury' Auction

Once again, panels donated by Gary Trudeau will benefit local schools:

A Portland parent plans to auction three original "Doonesbury" comic strips Friday at Pioneer Courthouse Square downtown to benefit budget-strapped schools.
Richard Milsom reached "Doonesbury" cartoonist Garry Trudeau two months ago through an indirect connection to someone who works for Jane Pauley, Trudeau's wife. Trudeau sent him original drawings for three of the strips in the "sad day for Portland" series that ran in hundreds of newspapers in February.
Proceeds from the auction will be split among three recipients. Eighty percent will go to the Portland Schools Foundation, and 10 percent each to Rieke and Laurelhurst elementary schools.

The auction will be held tomorrow from noon to 1:00 PM in Pioneer Courthouse Square.
