Findings of City's 'Memorial Coliseum Reuse Study' to Be Presented

Today The Business Journal of Portland gives advance notice of an upcoming event important to those concerned with the future of Memorial Coliseum:

Memorial Coliseum's fate is taking shape, and on June 18 the Office of Management and Finance will present findings from an adaptive reuse study of Memorial Coliseum.
...
The findings will be presented at a 6 p.m. open house to showcase the proposals, followed at 7 p.m. by presentations of the proposals. The public meeting will be held at the Coliseum's Georgia Pacific Room, located at One Center Court. After the meeting, city staff and project consultants will present a final report to the city council and the public. Mayor Vera Katz plans to form an advisory group to evaluate the options presented, followed by a City Council decision on its use by late summer.

Among the various public-use options considered, according to the Journal, were "an updated coliseum, an updated coliseum with a 126,000-square-foot community recreation center, [and] an athletic recreation complex that offers swimming, ice skating, court sports and hosts competitions."

And of course, there's still the matter of the proposed Urban Home Center, which would provide all the charm of two big box retail stores.

The website of the Office of Management and Budget includes a page on the Coliseum, which includes the public-use study and other reference materials.
