Election Wrap-Ups

Just a quick run through post-election coverage, with little to no comment by me, since I'm just too damned tired. Which means, incidentally, that my mini-rpeort from today's City Council moves on the Waterfront Park Master Plan won't hit the site until late this evening or perhaps tomorrow.

Today's Oregonian takes a look at the tax measures (passed and defeated alike), examines whether the local tax vote offers any lessons for legislators in Salem, and briefly profiles the winners of the Portland School Board races.

KGW offers up a straightforward piece on the tax victory. KOIN offers only a brief look, which includes the sub-headline, "Libertarians Critical." KATU hits the bullet points of the County tax, the Beaverton tax, and whether they represent a "temporary fix or catalyst for change." And KPTV leads with the "mixed signals" angle, as tax measures in other parts of the state went down to defeat.

Congratulations to all of you who worked so hard to keep information rolling and get the matter passed. A good example of how information can actually be key in the democratic process.
