Burn Your Hands On a Perfect Band

Both the Portland Mercury and the Willamette Week consider tonight's CD release gig by The Prids a must-see, and I certainly agree. Although it'd be nice if it were somewhere other than Berbati's Pan, where everything is too expensive.

One reason to support the band -- beyond the simple fact that they deserve it -- can be gleaned from the blurb in the Week:

"I want to be a band that gets Portland some attention, to have people believe Portland is a place where really great music comes from, again," says [guitarist-singer David] Frederickson. "I think at one point they did, but now people think of Portland as a bunch of strip clubs."

Not that I'm judging strip clubs one way or the other. It's just that it would be nice for some of the best local bands to find enough success to lead to a greater recognition of all the other talent in town as well.

Show's start time is listed as 9:30 PM, but adjust for the typical PST (Portland Show Time) variance. The Vanishing Kids and Green Circles (neither of whom am I familiar with) begin the line-up.
