Intel's Curious Form of Neutrality

Today's Tribune also includes a strange item on Intel's position regarding the detainment of former employee Mike Hawash:

Intel Corp. Chief Executive Officer Craig Barrett has made it clear that he will not enter the fray over the arrest and detention of Intel contract engineer Maher "Mike" Hawash.
Responding to questions from Hawash supporters, including several former Intel executives, Barrett explained in a Friday e-mail that he does not intend "to act on loose and inaccurate interpretations of the circumstances surrounding (Hawash's) detainment."

Labelling the views of Hawash's supporters (which, of course, include such organizations as the ACLU) as "loose and inaccurate interpretations" is surely a very peculiar way to ostensibly remain out of the fray. Indeed, it rather strikes me as firmly taking a position on the side of the government's detention.
