(Updated) Speaking of Public Involvement
Note: This post has been updated. Any and all updates appear at the end of the original post.
I finally received a response to my repeated inquiries, directed to Pioneer Courthouse Square, Incorporated, as to the status of any reports generated from the series of six public workshops about the proposed ice rink:
A final decision regarding the proposed rink at the Square has not yet been made. However, initial reports have been put together to summarize the results of the public process. The reports are here in our office; you're welcome to stop by and flip through the information anytime.
I now await a response to an inquiry asking if this is the only way for the public to see the reports, or if one can obtain copies of one's own, so that one doesn't have to camp out in the PCS office in order to "flip through" them. Otherwise, these initial reports are technically public, but not public in the sense that people can actually make any significant use of them without sitting around in an office taking an abundance of notes.
We'll see.
Update
Just received, coincidentally moments after posting the above, the following:
Anyone is welcome to make copies. Copies are $.05 per page, so it could be a rather spendy endeavor. Or, we could send the whole binder to Kinko's and bill you. I'd recommend coming by to take a peek at the information before you decide to make an investment.
This is where not being an "actual" media outlet with actual finances becomes something of a hinderance. Then again, dear reader, you could decide to act as a minor Medici and use the "Click to Give" button in the left-hand sidebar. Which is not me being unseemly, I just like to occassionally remind people that it's there.
