The Clinic On My Street
I didn't realize that the Cascadia Behavioral Healthcare that's been mentioned by Emma on The Oregon Blog operates the mental health clinic on my street. And I only know this now because they've been humped by the local financial crisis:
Leslie Ford, Cascadia's chief executive officer, attributed the cuts to the eligibility reductions stemming from the defeat of Measure 28, changes in the Oregon Health Plan and a drop in Multnomah County revenues from $23 million to $10 million this year.
Nine sites will be closed or relocated, including North Portland Addiction Services, 3332 N. Lombard St.; the Plaza annex, 4189 S.E. Division St.; and the Carlyle, 521 S.W. 11th Ave.
Emphasis above added to highlight the clinic to which I'm referring. In fact, that very clinic has been allued to here once before, when I was trying to make a point about the likely impact of the failure of Measure No. 28 by passing along the thoughts of a friend of mine.
It was all because of an overheard conversation between driver and passenger on the #4 Division bus that I even learned the facility on my street was, indeed, in danger. It was from the driver's remarks, in fact, that I learned that last Friday's Portland Tribune had indeed listed the clinic as endangered -- although the passenger (clearly, from the conversation, a client of the clinic) remained unconvinced.
Perhaps he's merely aping some of our state's libertarians, who must be out there, somewhere, quietly chanting to themselves, "I'm not here. This isn't happening." After all, claims of these sorts of impending cuts were just scare tactics by supporters of Measure 28, right?

Cascadia Healthcare may do some good work, but a criminally insane grouphome for 5 violent mentally ill people next to a grade school seems, well........a STUPID IDEA

Call CASCADIA, ask them what and who lives there.
The PSRB is run by the state is another stop you want to make.
The FEDERAL FAIR HOUSING ACT is another. 5 yrs of back and forth on this issue reaching clear back to DC, in person calls on the hill.
Reams of fax and computor printouts of real 6 pm News stories, of real damage done to people and properties.
The board of egualization right here giving up property tax to 3 people who filed because of the home being there.
Dont think you got space for it, nor like WMD'S we will find in Iraq, if I hit you right in the mouth with them you would deny it.. .RIGHT OUT OF CLINTON 101....DENY DENY DENY!

Heh, if this is what I can expect by way of constructive dialogue at your meetings, for sure you can count me out. Present evidence about problems with siting mental health facilities if you wish; that's fine. But I'm not even going to get into the whole international question of WMD, because it's irrelevant and (speaking of speech) an attempt to discount my potential opinion on one issue based upon a presumption of my opinion on another issue.

If you dont think there is a criminally insane grouphome 400 yrds from a grade school, read your own research. If you think 5 violent, insane people loose for 90 mins of unsupervised walks past that school is ok...SAY SO!

But post that information and have the guts to sign it.... that is what I DISRESPECT the most about your little deal here...you dont but your money where your mouth is. SIGN THAT LETTER OF INTENT TO GET YOUR NEIGHBORS THEIR VERY OWN PSRB, PDC FINANCED ,CRIMINALLY INSANE GROUPHOME PARKED NEXT TO A GRADE SCHOOL.. BUT WHEN YOU HAVE THE BLOCK PARTY SIGN THE NAME OF THE IDIOT RESPONSIBLE.
