Public Forum on Reservoir Replacement

Tonight at 6:00 PM, there is a public forum on the Open Reservoir Replacement Project, to be held in the Council Chambers at City Hall. This forum will begin with a 20-minute presentation from the Bureau of Water Works, followed by a 20-minute presentation from the Friends of the Reservoirs, and concluding with time for public comment.

As reported here previously -- and as covered in yesterday's Portland Tribune -- this is in all likelihood an exercise in futility, since the City Council is not interested in revisiting the original decision to bury the reservoirs. Which means that opponents will probably have to try to stop the project on the basis of the city's construction codes which state (according to the Tribune article) that "even the smallest construction projects require permits that ensure they comply with all zoning and land use codes."
