Two Birds, One Stone (Two Cartoons)

Of course, neither of these cartoons is posted online via their respective sites, but both the Portland Tribune (in yesterday's edition) and The Oregonian (in today's edition) manage to combine the Mt. Tabor reservoir and Pioneer Courthouse Square ice rink controversies.

Yesterday's 'Insight' section in the Tribune depicts ice skaters on a frozen reservoir with a caption reading, "In a stroke of genius, the city gets its skating rink and keeps Mt. Tabor free of anthrax!!"

And today's edition of Joe Spooner's 'Mr. Portland' in The Oregonian (which will eventually show up here) reverses the above plan. Offering three solutions to the reservoir water issue, it's final panel suggests the following:

...or, we could store it frozen, on Pioneer Courthouse Square. (It might have to be kind of thick.)

By the way, if anyone can decipher the name of the cartoonist for the Tribune, please let me know.
