Some cheery news which helps explain why I have so much time to maintain this site:
The Portland-Vancouver metropolitan area lost 2,800 jobs in December compared to a loss of only 800 jobs one year earlier and gains in each of the prior five Decembers, according to preliminary figures from the Oregon Employment Department. The Portland area's unemployment rate of 6.9 percent was slightly higher than the state as a whole, which reported a 6.8 percent rate.
