Blumenauer to Run for Mayor?
This week's Willamette Week has an interesting tidbit at the top of its 'Murmurs' column:
Don't look now, but that bow-tied man on your front porch might just be U.S. Congressman Earl Blumenauer, who is quietly lining up support for a mayoral run in 2004. Mr. Sustainability, who suffered a bitter loss to Vera Katz in the 1992 mayoral contest, is in the enviable position of being able to flip his Congressional campaign chest into the mayoral race should he decide to pursue a City Hall perch again.
Not only is Blumenauer all about sustainability, but he voted against both the USA PATRIOT Act and the broadly-drawn war authority ceded to the President in the context of Iraq.
Meanwhile, 'Murmurs' amusingly gives itself a motto drawn from the Oregonian editorial about the WW "trashing" story the weekly recently published, but I won't bother to spoil it by repeating it here.
