Annual City Performance Review

The office of the City Auditor has released its annual report on how Portland residents grade the city and its government:

Portland residents' grades for many city services declined this year, but ratings remain high for livability and safety in most neighborhoods, according to an annual review scheduled for release today.
The 12th yearly performance review by the city auditor's office found residents less happy with city services compared with five years ago. Survey respondents gave lower overall ratings to nine of 14 city services.

Fire services and parks did well. Water, sewer, police, and transportation services not so much.

Almost 14,000 surveys were randomly mailed out to Portland residents in September, of which about "39 percent returned the survey, which has a margin of error of plus or minus 1.3 percentage points."

I am awaiting a return to my call to the City Auditor about the process for obtaining a copy of the report, and will examine some of the details here when I've had the opportunity to review it.

I discovered that last night, as it turns out (they hadn't yet posted it earlier in the day). But at a 154 pages, I'm not going to attempt to read it on-screen, and printing would be a chore and a half.

My call, in fact, was just returned, and I will be heading to City Hall to pick up a copy.
