Who Needs to Go Out?
On the one hand, there's KGW's webcam from Pioneer Courthouse Square (which unfortunately only reloads once every ten minutes), and on the other hand there's OregonLive's police scanner feed (which covers the entire metropolitan area) -- with both of them loaded up at once, why bother dealing with the crush of New Year's Eve crowds?
Besides, if any New Year's riots break out, I'll be the first to hear about them this way. Although one year, after seeing a show downtown (at Jimmy Mak's, accompanied by dirty vodka martinis), someone who had just come from the "riot" offered to sell a partial bicycle someone else had abandoned. That certainly won't happen at home tonight.

Overheard: A report of a woman in her 50s, sitting in the non-smoking section of a Denny's, who handed a note to her waitress. The note said to call the police right away and for them to "come to the West 5th jail."

Are there ducks in Oregon during the Winter? I'm fairly certain that I just heard an entire flock of ducks scared witless by fireworks somewhere in the neighborhood.
